New NCC Boss Pledges to Enhance the Industry Quality Services

Professor Umaru Danbatta, the newly appointed Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communication Commissions, (NCC) has pledged to enhance quality services in the nation telecom industry.

Professor Danbatta whose appointment as the NCC is yet to be confirmed by the Senate while addressing a group of the commission’s top management and staff promised to apply his experience in tackling the challenges of the nation’s telecom industry. The acting NCC boss said that he will use his experience to ensure that the public are satisfied with the quality of services they received from the industry.

His focus as he mentioned would be the implementation of the accepted ideals of the International Telecommunications Union, (ITU) in order to provide quality service that makes universal service achievable. He identified three ‘A’s upon which the concept of universal access is premised as Affordability of Service, Accessibility of Service and Availability of service.

According to him, NCC will always be guided by these three As which he described as the dictating parameters for improvement in the quality of services.

Professor Danbatta who majored in electronics engineering acknowledged that the telecom industry in the country was faced with a lot of challenges. But these challenges according to him can be overcome.

Proffessor Danbatta has wealth of experience in the industry. He has headed several office and was the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Kano University of Science & Technology, Wudil before getting the appointment as the NCC Executive Vice Chairman.
