The Nigeria Police Force has arrested one of the suspected attackers of Apostle Johnson Suleman of the Omega Fire Ministries International.
The suspect, Yusuf Ismail Isa, 32, who was paraded at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, on Thursday, July 13, said he was the first person to open fire on the day of the attempted assassination.
Recall that on October 21, 2022, six persons, including three police officers, were killed during an attack on the convoy of the cleric along the Benin-Auchi road, Edo state.
Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Thursday, Muyiwa Adejobi, force spokesperson, said the suspect was arrested by operatives of the intelligence rapid team following an intensive investigation.
Adejobi said five AK-47 rifles were recovered from the suspect in Akure, Ondo state.
“Following an intensive investigation into the fatal attack on the convoy of apostle Johnson Suleman, on October 21, 2022, the operatives of FIB-IRT apprehended one Yusuf Ismael Isah, a native of Okene, Kogi state and a plumber at Agbaraoluwa Phase 2 Ijoka, Akure, Ondo State.
He said Ak47 Rifles, two K2 assault rifles, 180 live ammunition, and four suspected IEDs were found in his apartment.
Adejobi disclosed that some of the rifles found in his possession were rifles snatched from the three police officers Killed during the October 21, 2022 attack.
