The Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) has disclosed that the number of mobile internet users in Nigeria has risen from 95.37 million it was in August to 97.27 in September.
According to NCC, there was an increase of 1.84 million in the number of GSM and CDMA users in Nigeria within the month of September. NCC went further to break details of statistics saying that 151,816 out of the total mobile users subscribed to CDMA networks while 97.06 million out of the number were using GSM network. As revealed the telecom regulatory body in the country, the number of CDMA users went down from 152,183 to 151816 losing 367 subscribers.
NCC revealed that MTN has the highest number of subscribers that surf the internet among the other telecom industries in the country. NCC statistics showed that 41.84 million subscribers surf the internet are using the MTN network for their browsing. The telecom industry which was slammed a fine of over N1 trillion by NCC in the recent time had 41.41 million subscribers in August but got more 423,488 subscribers in September to make the number of their subscribers to be 41.84 million.
Airtel Nigeria which is another leading telecom industry in Nigeria according to NCC report had got more 235,941 subscribers in the month of September to join 17.49 million subscribers they already have in August making their total number of subscribers to be 17.73. With 15.59 million internet users in September, Etisalat is the next in rung. In August, the number of internet users making use of the services of the company was 15.54 but more people joined by September to make the total number to be 15.59.
Multi-links and Visafone are the two CDMA operators with the highest number of subscribers. The joint total of numbers of people using the CDMA services of these people is 151,816 in September. The number of people surfing the internet with service of decreased from 151923 it was in August to 151, 530 in September. In other words, it lost 393 in the month of September.
