The Osun State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State has fixed the N34.98 billion bailout fund the State received from the Federal Government for 60 days with a commercial bank.
This allegation was made by the Party’s spokesman, Diran Odeyemi in a statement issued yesterday in Osogbo. He disclosed that Osun State received the fund about two weeks ago but instead of the governor to pay his workers with the money, he chose to fix it in a bank for the sake of interest.
According to the statement, “Only paperwork was completed last week, but since 14 days ago, Mr. Aregbesola in his usual ‘I don’t care’ instead of commencing payments of workers dues, lodged the N35 billion given to the State. According to our findings, the bank that agreed to give Mr. Aregbesola the biggest interest running into several millions of naira was given the money to fix”.
“The governor is buying more time. For over two weeks now, he has been hiding behind staff screening to fish out ghost workers and the exercise is designed to last for another eight weeks”.
