The Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd.) has said during a visit to Illela border post in Sokoto State on Monday that the Federal government would secure borders using modern technology.
Dambazau assured Nigerians of the federal government commitment to protect lives and secure properties of Nigerians throughout the country including those living in at the hinterland and borders.
According to him, the government would combine the use of intelligence with modern tools and technologies in analyzing movements along the borders of the country.
Dambazau also assured Nigerians that the FG was approaching the fight against arms smuggling as well as drugs and human trafficking with dedication.
The Nigerian Minister of Interior in his statement also promise the security personnel at the borders of a better package saying that he would do everything within his power to provide them with their welfare needs.
While talking about the office and residential accommodation of security personnel, Dambazau said that the government would take plausible measures to enhance them.
The Minister also laid emphasis on the need for residents of the border communities to live at peace with each other.
Dambazua called on the security operatives at the border to be on their guide always especially nowadays when many terrorists actitivies are carried out at the borders.
