Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has said its costs the state government N400,000 to treat each COVID-19 patient in the state.

El-Rufai said this on Monday at the executive committee meeting of the traditional rulers chaired by the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar.

The governor said traditional rulers have a major role to play in ensuring that people at the grassroots obey government’s directives, as part of measures to curb the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic as well asother diseases.

He said, the pandemic is already digging a hole in government’s coffers, adding that it is imperative for people in the north and country at large to desist from activities that will promote the spread of the virus.

The traditional rulers from the nineteen northern States met in Kaduna, to discuss the security and socio-economic challenges confronting the region, and to find a lasting solution to the killings in the southern part of the state.

While speaking, the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, expressed displeasure at the killings in Southern Kaduna, describing it as total madness.

He said the madness must stop, as he urged all stakeholders including government and traditional rulers to rise up and find solutions to the lingering crises.
