No Nigerian player made the shortlist of Confederation of African Football (CAF), 2015 African Player of the Year award.
Former Nigerian and Lille FC Goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama and Nigerian Winger, Ahmed Musa, who were in the 37-man list earlier released by CAF, were conspicuously missing in the 10-man list released by CAF yesterday.
In the 10-man shortlist, three-time winner, Yaya Toure, top the list with Andre Ayew (Ghana and Swansea), Mohamed Salah (Egypt and Roma) Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Gabon and Borussia Dortmund) and Sadio Mane (Senegal and Southampton)
More so, no Nigerian was mentioned in the shortlist for the African Player of the Year award (Home Based Category).
The list consists of players of clubs who dominated the CAF clubs’ championships during the year under review.
The winner will be decided by votes of the coaches or Technical Directors of the national associations affiliated to CAF.
The awards ceremony will hold in Abuja, on Thursday, 7 January 2016.

Andre Ayew (Ghana/ Swansea), Aymen Abdennour (Tunisia/Valencia), Mudather Eltaib Ibrahim ‘Karika’ (Sudan /El Hilal), Mohamed Salah (Egypt /Roma), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Gabon/B-Dortmund), Sadio Mane (Senegal / Southampton), Serge Aurier (Cote d’Ivoire / PSG), Sofiane Feghouli (Algeria / Valencia), Yacine Brahimi (Algeria / Porto), Yaya Toure (Cote d’Ivoire / Man City).
It could be recalled that the last time a Nigerian won the African Player of the Year award was 16 years ago by former Super Eagles captain, Nwankwo Kanu.
