Traditional Council Names Successor to the Olu of Warri


A successor to the Olu of Warri, has been named by the Warri Traditional Council, after formally confirming the passage of Ogiame Atuwatse 11.

According to sources, Prince Godfrey Ikenwoli Emiko, the younger brother of the deceased monarch, was unveiled to the warri National Council at a ceremony in Ode-Itsekiri, Saturday by the oldest member of the Olu Advisory Council, Chief Tesigiweno Yahya Pessu.


Pessu also performed the traditional breaking of the calabash, a symbolic age-long tradition confirming the death of their king.The Olu-designate would be crowned at a formal ceremony to be held at a later date.
