This is definitely a good news for lovers of sport in Lagos and Nigeria in General as the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, stated “Abuja – The Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to develop sports in the region” at the closing ceremony of second Lagos International Badminton Classics at the weekend.

The governor assured that sports in general would get adequate attention in the next four years of his administration. And that effort will me made to improve local sports association as a means to ensure that it becomes a veritable tool for employment.

“I want to also commit that the next four years Lagos state will continue to sponsor this particular international tournament, in addition to other sports that the Lagos State Government has been sponsoring,” said Ambode.

With excitement he mentioned that the past administrations had always focused on sports development.

“One of the things I had promised Lagosians is that we would continue in the path of past administrations to take sports to the next level,” Ambode said.

He said the administration had decided to establish the Lagos State Sports Commission in line with the National Sports Commission and that his administration would focus on sports, tourism, entertainment, arts and hospitality sector as a single project to engage youths so as to keep them away from social vices.
