Serving Councillor Arrested While Supplying Firearm To Bandits In Kaduna

A serving Councillor, Abdul Adamu Kinkiba, of Soba Local Government Council of Kaduna State, has been arrested with one Ak-47 rifle and rounds of 7.62 X 39mm live ammunition.

Officers of Operation Puff Adder II, said to be on surveillance around the Galadimawa axis of Giwa Local Government Area, apprehended the councillor near a bandits hideout.

When questioned, the Councillor said he could not remember who gave him the rifle, just as he could also not remember who he was to deliver it to.

Speaking in Hausa, he said, “I was told that the gun was meant for the convoy of someone. I was instructed to park immediately after the bridge near Galadimawa forest (a known hideout of bandits), where somebody would collect the gun ”

Further investigations, revealed that Kinkiba has been supplying firearms to bandits one at a time.

The chairman of Soba Local Government Area, Engineer Suleiman Yahaya Richifa, while confirminy the suspect is the councillor representing Kinkiba ward in the council, said, “I’m in serious grief about the news. Please allow me to overcome my shock.”

The State Police Command also confirmed the arrest in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Muhammad Jalige.

“Operatives Operation Puff Adder II attached to the Kaduna Police Command, acting on the instruction of CP Yekini Ayoku on May 9, at about 0800hrs conducted routine patrol along Galadimawa road Giwa LGA of Kaduna State.
