The Federal House of Representatives has approved President Muhammadu Buhari’s request to borrow $22.7 billion.

The Lawmakers approved the request at Tuesday’s plenary session after considering the report submitted by its committee on aids, loans and debt management.

Recall that President Buhari sent the loan request letter to the lower legislative house in 2019, saying the loan will be used to finance key infrastructures in the country.

Some lawmakers mostly those from the south-east, kicked against the move, noting that the region was excluded in the loan’s implementation plan.

More so, criticism from Nigerians had led to suspension of the loan approval last year.
