Report for duty or get fired, Lagos CP warns policemen

The State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has urged policemen to resume work or risk being fired.

The commissioner said this on Friday while speaking at a general security meeting with his management team, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Heads of Department at the State Command Headquarters, GRA, Ikeja.

According to him, officers who fail to report at their duty posts, should be treated as deserters and dealth with in accordance with the Police Act and Regulations.

He charged Area Commanders, DPOs and Heads of Department to henceforth treat absent cops as deserters. He added that, there is no reason for any policeman to be absent from work, despite the words of encouragement, solidarity and supports from the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and well meaning Nigerians, including our wives and mothers, the Police Officers Wives Association.

Mr. Odumosu, reiterated the need for policemen to be up and doing with securing lives and properties in the state, especially during during the ember months, when crimes and social vices are rife.

He added that, the command will not condone any act of negligence, indolence and complacency from any police personnel.
