The Director-General (DG) of the National Youth Service Corps, Brig.-Gen. Johnson Olawumi, has said orientation camps in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states will be re-opened before the end of 2016.

The DG said this while addressing newsmen in Katsina on Thursday.

He said the decision to re-open the camps, followed the successes recorded by the Military in the fight against insurgency in the North-East.

“Since the insurgency has been reduced drastically, we are resuming orientation in Gombe state beginning with this batch ‘A’ of 2016.

“Adamawa state will resume with the next batch, while Borno and Yobe orientation camps will be re-opened before the end of the year,’’ he said.

While noting that the affected states in the North-East, had some of the best facilities in their orientation camps, but had to be closed down due to insecurity.

More so, the DG called on state goverments to ensure prompt payments of allowances to those serving in their state, to boost their morale. He went further by advising corps members to discharge their duties diligently at their places of primary assignment.
