Movement for Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), in Anambra State, has given the Nigerian military 48-hours to release five of its members allegedly arrested.
The Regional Administrator for Nnewi South Local Government Area, Tony Nwodo said, who gave the ultimatum said, “We will shut down Anambra State if the five arrested members are not released within 48 hours.”
Nwodo who named those arrested as MASSOB’s Utu Area Administrator – Eugene Odoh, Friday Nwoye, Sunday Amaechi, Chuma Okonkwo and Ebuka Okolo.
According to Nwodo, “Eugene Odoh was picked from his shop at 2, Chukwurah Street, off Awka Road, Onitsha, this evening,” adding “they stormed his shop with six Hilux and a Sienna buses.
“They ransacked his shop and N50,000 was missing and up till now, his whereabouts and four others are unknown.
“These four others were picked from their homes and on the road without committing any offence,” he further claimed.
“We will not take this if they are not released after 48 hours, we will show the military the stuff we are made of even if we are a non violent body fighting to actualize a sovereign state of Biafra,” he warned.
