A Magistrate Court sitting in Oredo, Edo State, has jailed 39-year old David Onyema, for drugging and robbing one, Egbon Khalim.
Khalim was said to have been drugged at the Iyare Motor Park in Benin City, the Edo state capital, on May 25, 2019.
According to police prosecutor, Patrick Agbonifo, the convict pretended to make friends with the victim but gave him food laced with drug.
He revealed that, upon noticing that the drugs had taken effect on Khalim, forcing him to fall asleep, the suspect proceeded to steal the goods worth rgoods worth N715,000 were stolen from the victim.
Magistrate Osayande who presided over the judgement, sentenced Onyema to 44-month imprisonment without an option of fine.
