Wael Jerro, the Lebanese man who advertised a Nigerian woman for sale on Facebook, has been arrested.

This was disclosed by the Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, in a tweet on Thursday.

According to her, the suspect, who was arrested by the Lebanese government, would be prosecuted.

“The Lebanese Government just announced the arrest of Mr. Wael Jerro for onward prosecution against criminal sales of a human, a young Nigerian girl,” she wrote.

Jerro had advertised the victim, Busari Peace Ufuoma, with her Nigerian passport on a Facebook page, ‘Buy and Sell in Lebanon.’

He placed a price tag of $1,000 on the 30-year-old Oyo State, indigene with caption that she is very neat and hardworking.

The post generated so much anger online, with many calling for Jerro’s arrest and prosecution.
