Two Nigerians, identified as Tosin Amos-Arowoshegbe and Chibueze Momah, have been shot dead in Canada.

Their identities were confirmed by the York regional police in Canada, in a statement, which said a third person, who was also shot at the club, where the incident took place, is currently receiving treatment at a medical facility.

The police said the two Nigerians worked as security guards at the ATL Lounge, the statement issued on Wednesday said.

“Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide Unit are seeking assistance to identify a suspect in connection with a double homicide in the City of Vaughan,” the statement reads.

“On Saturday, July 23, 2022, at approximately 3:30 a.m., York Regional Police responded to the ATL Lounge located at 2220 Highway 7, near Keele Street, for a report of a shooting.

“When officers arrived on scene, they located three victims with gunshot wounds. Two of the victims succumbed to their injuries. They were identified as Tosin Amos-Arowoshegbe, 25, of Toronto, and Chibueze Momah, 22, of Mississauga.

“The third victim, a 20-year-old female, was transported to hospital and is currently in stable condition.

“Investigators learned the two deceased victims were employed as security guards for ATL Lounge and the female victim was a patron inside. An altercation took place in the lounge that led to the shooting. Investigators believe this was a targeted incident.

“The suspect fled the scene prior to police arriving. Investigators are releasing photos and a video of a suspect connected to this homicide and his acquaintance.

“The photos and videos were obtained from ATL Lounge. Anyone who can identify these people, are asked to come forward.”

The police shared a link to a video showing the suspect, adding that “evidence can be uploaded directly to investigators.”
