LASIMRA Determined to Regulate the Telecommunications, Financial Services and Utilities Sectors

The Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA) has said it will be committed to the regulation of the communication infrastructure space in the telecommunications sectors as well as the financial and service sectors. Mr. Babajide Odekunle, the new General Manager of the Agency disclosed this while speaking in Lagos.

Mr. Babajide warned service providers who do not keep to the standard to desist from that, saying that the era of impunity has gone. He urged the financial institutions that wanting to erect infrastructure for communication to utilize the materials approved by the agency.

He decried the delay by the utility firms in completing approved works on major roads saying that it would no longer be business as usual.

According to the LASIMRA’s GM, the agency would convene a meeting of all the stakeholders in the industry. Mr. Babajide also disclosed that agency would be auditing all the communication infrastructures in the state.

In keeping with the resolution of the administration of Governor Akinwunmi Abode to deliver good service to the people, the agency called on the people to report telecom service provider laying cables on or under any road in the state.
