Members of the 8th Senate were on hand to receive the management of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) Company in Abuja yesterday.
The 8th Senate, headed by Senator Bukola Saraki showed support for the Nigerian automobile company, and promised to continue to support its growth.
It will be recalled that Senator Ben Murray Bruce had earlier, ordered for an SUV and a saloon car from the company, in a bid to do well with his preaching of buying made in Nigeria products to grow the Nigeria Naira.
However, the Senate President who wrote on his official Facebook page after the meeting, had this to say: “Today, I met with Mr. Innocent Chukwuma, the Group Chairman and CEO of Innoson Motors. This visit was in-line with the 8th Senate’s work to make the #MadeInNigeria and the #BuyNaijaToGrowTheNaira campaigns more widespread.
We have a collective responsibility to ensure that our home-grown businesses are successful. When our businesses at home flourish, we can put more of our young people to work, and increase our internally generated revenue.
The 8th Senate will continue to work on re-examining our laws to sift out ways that we can support our domestic manufacturers and producers. We will begin this process by amending the procurement act to give our local manufacturers and producers ‘first dibs’ in the government procurement process.”
More so, Mr. Innocent Chukwuma, the Group Chairman and CEO of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) Company, thanked the senate President for his support and also presented him with one of the company’s brand new saloon cars.
