House of Reps To Scrutinize Niger Delta Joint Task Force.

The House of Representatives is about constituting an ad hoc committee that will investigate the duties of the Niger Delta Joint Task Force in relation to illegal refineries operating illegitimately in the
region.

The committee is also expected to scrutinize Agip Oil‘s activities in bid to force them to upgrade their facilities so as to forestall the reccurence of the recent fire outbreak that killed 14 people in a
community in Bayelsa State.

Furthermore, the committee will examine degradation preventing steps that the Joint Task Force took withNigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), National Oil Spill Detection Response Agency (NOSDRA) and Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency
(NIMASA).

The decision to constitute the committee was reached after the House adopted a motion moved by Honourable Douye Diri from Bayelsa State and 13 other Honourables.
