BREAKING NEWS: Chief Olu Falae Has Been Kidnapped

Former Presidential candidate and one time Secretary to the Government of the Federation, chief Olu Falae, has been kidnapped.

Details of the incidence is still sketchy at the time of filing this report, however, Chief Falae, was kidnapped from his residence on Oba-Ile Road, Akure, the Ondo state capital today, by suspected herdsmen.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Wole Ogodo, who confirmed the incident, said 50 mobile policemen have been deployed to the farm to search for him.

Ogodo said, “Baba Falae has been have been having a running battle with the herdsmen and this morning, we learnt that he visited the farm and he was allegedly attack by these herdsmen. But we have sent 50 of our men to the farm to begin the search for him.”

He was secretary to the military government of Ibrahim Babangida from January 1986 to December 1990 and was briefly the Finance Minister in 1990.

It could be recalled that Olu Falae ran for Nigeria’s president in 1999 on the joint platform of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) and the All People’s Party (APP) against Olusegun Obasanjo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He is 77-years old.
