Global rights group, Amnesty International, has revealed that a total of 10 protesters were killed by the Nigeria Police Force since the #EndSARS demonstrations began last Thursday.
This was made known in a tweet on Monday.
It said, “So far, Nigerian police have killed at least 10 people since the start of protests against callous operations of SARS.”
Nigerians are seeking the dissolution of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a unit in the Nigerian Police Force, over incessant extortion, murder and police brutality.
The Inspector General of Police Adamu Mohammed has on Sunday disbanded the group, but his directives seem to have fell on deaf ears, as the police shot and killed some prostesters afterwards.
The President, Muhammadu Buhari also spoke on the ban placed on the group, adding thay erring officers would be prosecuted.
