The acting Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Adamu has ordered the immediate disbandment of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) initially centralized by his predecessor IGP Ibrahim Idris, who left office last week.

More so, the IGP ordered that all quasi-investigation and operations out-fits including the Special Investigation Panel (SIP) and Special Tactical Squad (STS) and other such teams, be disbanded.

The IGP issued this order on Monday in Abuja, at his inaugural conference with Commissioners of Police and other senior officers.

He noted that while plans were being perfected to strengthen the operations and address complaints over the operations of F-SARS across the country, the unit is now under state commands.

He also disbanded all quasi-investigation and operations out-fits including the Special Investigation Panel (SIP) and Special Tactical Squad (STS) and other such teams.

A Special Election Investigation Team (SEIT) tasked with the exclusive function of investigating and prosecuting electoral offenders was also set up by IGP Adamu at the meeting.
