Embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Abba Kyari has claimed that his health is deteriorating
This is coming following his detention by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, on drugs related charges.
But upon his arrest, Kyari filed a suit against the Federal Government before the Federal Hight Court, challenging his continued detention by the agency.
In the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/182/22, DCP Kyari sought an order of the court to immediately release him and admit him to bail on liberal conditions.
According to the ex-parte application by his counsel, Cynthia Ikena, Kyari claimed that he was suffering from diabetes and hypertension and needs urgent medical attention.
The suit was however turned down by the presiding judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo, who observed that the suit contained some averments that would require government’s response.
“Upon studying the process of the applicant and averments in support thereon, I am of the opinion that the respondent should be put on notice,” the judge said.
Justice Ekwo ordered that all the relevant processes should be served on the Federal Government.
He, thereafter, fixed February 24 for the parties to appear before him
