Kidnapped Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Philip Shekwo, has been found dead.
This was made known on Sunday by the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Dele Longe.
Shekwo was abducted by yet to be identified gunmen late Saturday from his residence in Lafia.
According to the commissioner, ” Unidentified gunmen in large number stormed the resident of the APC Chairman in Lafia around 11 O’clock on Saturday night. But with the synergy of Anti kidnapping Unit, Army, Air Force, and conventional police engaged them in a real battle , the gunmen were repelled.
”It was more than kidnapping, as they took him away, no demand was made, we believe it was a planned assassination. We investigate trailed and found his corpse few meters away from his House.
”This is occasionally and sad, we will make the ember month crime free, as we tame kidnappings, banditry, armed robbery, forceful break and entry among others.“
He noted that his corpse was identified few meters away from his house and has been taken to the mortuary.
