The International Criminal Court has revealed that it is investigation the incident between soldiers and #EndSARS protests at the Lekki tollgate in Lagos.
In a statement, the office of the ICC prosecutor had earlier said it had received information on alleged crimes.
According to the report, shared by the BBC, the examination will “assess whether the legal criteria for opening an investigation under the Rome Statute are met”.
Nigeria’s security forces are accused of killing unarmed protesters at the Lekki Tollgate in Lagos. The protesters were demonstrating against police brutality and the scrapping of Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.
The police and army have since denied all accusations.
However, the ICC, has said it would make findings of the preliminary examination public.
