A policeman has died following injuries sustained when a six-storey building gutted by fire on Tuesday in Lagos Island collapsed.
The policeman was said to be trying to control the crowd who had gathered to watch the raging inferno.
However, while firemen were trying to put out the fire on the six-storey building said to be located at 43, Martins Street, Lagos Island, a section of it collapsed on the policeman, severely injuring him.
His death was confirmed by the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Mr. Nosa Okunbor, who described it as unfortunate.
He noted that the portion that collapsed was weakened by the fire, but assured that the perimers has been cordoned to avoid furthet fatality, as the building poses danger to thr public.
More so, while speaking on the death of the Policeman, Mr Olanrewaju Elegushi, Special Adviser to Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Lagos Central Business District, said he died in the hospital following injuries sustained from the accident.
