Thirty-nine Tunmise Abraham, has been arrested for allegedly raping his landlady, Olanrewaju Bukola, 38, to death in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
The suspect was arrested in a church in Akure, where he had gone to hide after committing the heinous crime.
According to him, he hit the landlady with a stick he collected from her out of anger but did not know she was going to die.
While speaking parading the suspect at the state police headquarters, the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Mr Amba Asuquo, said the suspect, after committing the act, fled to Akure, Ondo State, where the police tracked and arrested him.
Asuquo said the suspect confessed he was provoked by his landlady’s mockery of him as a stammerer and mad person.
The Commissioner said, “This generated into a fight and the suspect overpowered the deceased by forcefully collecting from her the stick she was holding and using it to beat her on the head, which resulted into a serious head injury.
“He further found a rope which he used to tie up the hands of the woman, who was later found dead in a pool of blood as a result of the head injury she sustained.”
He added that after Abraham noticed that he had killed his landlady, he fled to Akure.
