Rivers State Governor, Mr. Nyesom Wike has denied making any comments on the ongoing fight against insurgency and the missing Nigerian soldiers.
The governor in a statement issued in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital on Friday by his Special Assistant on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu, said the statement currently in circulation on social media, did not emanate from him.
The statement reads in part, “Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike has not made any statement on the fight against insurgency in the North-East geopolitical zone of the country.
“The statement being circulated on social media with the title, ‘Wike confronts Presidency: 105 soldiers died, not missing’ is a figment of the imaginations of those circulating the false report.
“There are recognised channels of communication in respect of activities and statements of Governor Nyesom Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike. Members of the public should therefore disregard information circulated through unverified sources”.
