The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, Ali Ndume, has revealed that Boko Haram insurgents have killed 847 soldiers since 2013.

According to him, these figure is for deceased soldiers who were buried in the military cemetery located in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.

He said the figures declared does not include soldiers killed by the sect but buried in other military cemeteries.

He revealed this following the committee members visit to Borno, the heart or the fighting between troops and Boko Haram.

Ndume stated the committee discovered that soldiers were under-equipped to confront the insurgents, while also enjoining the government to recruit more troops, as the nunber of soldiers oj the frontline confronting insurgency is inadequate.

More so, he added that the Senate Panel was already investigating allegations that some non-governmental organisations were working with Boko Haram.
