19-year-old and her accomplice arrested for setting ex-lover’s house, girlfriend ablaze in Lagos

A young lady Jemila Ibrahim, 19, and her friend, Fatima Mohammed, 21, have been arrested by the Lagos state police command, for setting ablaze the house of her ex-lover, Mohammed Yusuf and his girlfriend, Rabi, inside.

The incident was said to have taken place at Monkey Village, Festac Area of the state.

In a statement which was released by Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, said, Yusuf, who got wind of his house being on fire, rushed home, but could only rescue Rabi, his new lover, who was in the house at the time. He took her to the hospital, where she eventually died following burns she sustained.

According to Mohammed, his former lover, Miss Ibrahim, cheated on him, that was why he left her for Rabi.

Ibrahim and her friend have since been arrested by policemen Satellite Division, and transferred to the State CID, Panti, upon request by the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu.

Mr. Odumosu, who condemned the crime, said the command will continue to go after criminal elements in the state, while urging Lagosians to shun the habit of taking laws into their hands.
