UK government reacts to #EndSARS protests in Nigeria

The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing, has said the call to end activities of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, is a call by Nigerians for police reform.

#EndSARS protests which erupted from social media into a full blown protest, has generated into reaction from around the globe.

Laing, said this in a tweet from her verified handle, adding that “peaceful protests are powerful”.

Speaking on the recently passed Police Act by President Muhammadu Buhari, she said, the bill should provide a good foundation for an accountable community police force.

“Significant protests over #SARS demonstrating Nigerian people’s desire for police reform. Peaceful protests are powerful.

“The Police Act recently passed by @MBuhari provides a good foundation to build a more accountable community police force,” Laing wrote.
