Russia 2018 World Cup: Ahmed Musa’s Goal Nominated for Goal of the Tournament

Despite the 2018 World Cup in Russia, coming to an early end for the Nigerian side, the positive impacts which one of its players had in the tournament wont be easily forgotten, as FIFA has shortlisted one of the goals scored by Super Eagles of Nigeria and Leicester City winger, Ahmed Musa, for ‘Goal of the Tournament Award’.

The World Cup which came to an end yesterday, saw a total of 169 goals scored, but only 18 made it through the shortlist for the top award.

Musa’s second goal against Iceland in the group stages wad selected alongside 17 others. The list includes Cristiano Ronaldo’s third goal against Spain and Lionel Messi’s goal against Nigeria.

However, FIFA has announced that the voting for the Best Goal of the tournament will be open until July 23 on its official website.

Leading the line are the two goals scored by Russia midfielder Denis Cheryshev and one from his teammate striker Artem Dzyuba.
