President Buhari Advocated for the Use of Science and Technology in Defeating Terrorism in Africa

President Muhamadu Buhari has called on African countries to employ science, technology and innovations (STIs) in dealing with terrorism, under-development, illiteracy, poverty, social restiveness and under-development.

Speaking for the President, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, the Minister of Science and Technology made this statement over the weekend in Abuja through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Taye Akinyemi.

As contained in the statement, President Buhari said that African countries can only exploit their huge natural resources by using science and technology and this will help in job creation, poverty reduction, wealth create and human suffering.

According to the statement the President was represented by the Minister of Science and Technology during a 3-day World Conference on the Deployment of Science and Technology for Africa’s Development which took place in the Capital City of Senegal, Dakar.

While speaking during the conference, Onu called on African countries to see science and technology as a vital tool for the stimulation of human development and progress in their effort to reduce the levels of power, human suffering, social restiveness, conflict and strife, environmental degradation and terrorism across Africa.
