The Office for ICT Innovation and Entrepreneurship (OIIE) has said it would launch a program known as “StartUP Friday on 19th February, 2015 in Abuja.
The StartUP Friday will be a regular meeting of businesses driven by technology and operating with ICT. The meeting will aim at promoting and encouraging startups to take their business to the next level.
Bunmi Okunowo, the National Coordinator of OIIE which is a subsidiary of National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) said that startups of size would be provided with the opportunity of networking, learning and sharing from each other. According to him, the meeting will also provide them with the opportunity of connecting with mentors and investors.
Bunmi explained that the StartUP Friday formed part of their plan to enhance the startups’ development process and to discover high-growth startups that will be provided with fund.
According to him, through the program, startups will be able to relax, connect, interact, exchange ideas and listen to sound advice from various speakers. The program will also offer the required important support the startup required to create employments and make money for themselves.
He also mentioned that the Startups would help startups to build tech-drive community of startup for sharing of ideas. It will also pull together mentors and investors as well as other major personnel that can help the upcoming entrepreneurs to become successful businesses in their various area of specialization.
OIIT was lunched as a special purpose program under NITDA to cultivate, expand and grow innovations and entrepreneurship within Nigeria as stipulated in NITDA’s 2007 ACT and National ICT Policy.
