Serving corps members will receive their monthly allowance for April and May, without the clearance.

This was announced by the management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Friday.

In a statement signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations of the scheme, Adenike Adeyemi, she said this is inline with the surge of Covid-19 in the country, and social distancing as advised by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC).

She noted that there shall not be clearance for the month of May, adding that automatic clearance would be generated for all corps members.

More so, she said this was necessary to counter a false report which claimed that the Director General of the scheme, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim had released a statement directed at Corps Members, that their monthly stipends for April and May would be contributed to the fight against COVID-19.

Adeyemi thanked Corps members who have been contributing their quota in the fight against the pandemic as well as Corps Medical Personnel working with medical teams across the country and Corps Engineers that fabricated pedal-operated machine dispensing sanitiser.
