New Ooni Presented with Staff of Office

Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State, on Monday presented the staff of office and instrument of appointment to the newly crowned Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Babatunde Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja11.

The event was held at Afewonro park, Enuwa, and had in attendance top dignitaries from Nigeria and abroad.

President Muhammadu Buhari, was represented by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, other natable dignitaries include, the governors of Osun, Ogun, Oyo and Lagos, the Sultan of Sokoto, Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and many more.

The Vice President, in his goodwill message, said the throne of Ooni, being a deep and revered institution among the Yoruba people carries the responsibility of the race.

He told the new monarch to exercise courage, integrity and loyalty to truth and charged him to be virtuous an used his position to work for the unity of the country.

More so, he charged the new Ooni to engage the youths in his domain positively and productively and make them to be responsible.
According to him, the event was historic and rare in all ramification saying it will remain indelible in the contemporary history of Yoruba race.

He noted that Ile Ife is blessed to have a youthful monarch at this critical period in Nigeria history and prayed for the annointing of virtuous of leadership as explained in the book of Ecclesiastes, chapter 10 verses 16 and 17.

Prof. Osinbajo stated that the stool of Ooni bestole on him the responsibility of carrying the responsibility of his people.

In his remarks, Osun state governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, said as long as throne of Ooni comes will lots of privileges, calling on the monarch to handle the responsibilities attach to the throne with fear of God and large heartedness.

The coronation is coming exactly 35 years and one day after the immediate past Ooni, Oba Okunade Sijuade was presented staff of office by Late Chief Bola Ige.
