Insecurity reduced in last one year – Lai Mohammed

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has said although insecurity may still be rife in Nigeria, but noted that it has improved drastically in the last one year.

The minister said this while giving the administration’s second term scorecard in Abuja.

According to him, the decision by thr federal government to shut its borders in 2019, drastically lowered the incidence of arms perforation.

“Before then our porous borders, not just in Seme but everywhere were veritable avenues for smuggling of arms and drug trafficking” he said.

Adding that, the activities of bandits and kidnappers are being checkmated, stressing that although it might not have been completely eradicated “but compared to what it was this time last year to what it is today, it has reduced drastically.”

More so, while commenting on the issue of rape in the country, the minister, said there are enough laws in Nigeria that protects the girl child, adding that the federal government will continue to strengthen those laws.
