Manchester United legend Gary Neville has urged the club not to spend £20m on Nigerian international and loanee, Odion Ighalo.

Ighalo who is on loan from Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua, has been in good form since moving to England in the January transfer window, which saw him netting four goals in eight appearances for United.

This form has seen United considering him for a permanent deal after the expiration of his loan in June, however, Neville has advised the club against making the move.

“Is Ighalo worth £20m? Probably not in this market. He may have been if he continued scoring goals but you probably don’t need now to spend £20m,” Neville said during a interview on InstaGram live via goal.com

His parent club, Shenhua, are hoping to keep the striker for their new season and are tabling a new a contract worth £400,000 per week.

However should Man United cough out £20m for a permanent move, they will let him go, the club said.

Newcastle United are also said to be interested in Ighalo.
