Gunmen Invade Agudama Police Station In Bayelsa, Kill DPO, 3 Other Policemen

Tragedy struck in the early hourse of Monday, as suspected gunmen invaded the Agudama Ekpetiama community divisional Police Station in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The Divisional Police Officer, a pregnant policewoman and two other officers who were on duty were killed in the attack, while two policemen sustained injuries.

Channels Television, who visited the police station after the attack, revealed that the gunmen carted away rifles, ammunition and police uniforms from the station, in the attack that is alleged to have lasted for close to an hour.

The commissioner for youth in Bayelsa State, Udengs Eradiri who hails from the community, while speaking on the ugly incident, described the attack on the police station as sad and unfortunate.

According to him, the attack was premeditated, adding that youths in the area were alert at the time but were not well equipped to engage the gunmen.

He suggested that qualitative policies from the top to the state, to the local government, to be enforced to ensurr that issues of this nature does not repeat itself.

Exodus Ebisadofa an indigene of the community while condemning the incident called on the Federal Government to approve State Police as he believes it will curb heinous crimes such as these.
