Following the demise of former Governor of Bayelsa State and a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), chieftain in Bayelsa, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has sent its condolences to his family and friends over his death.

Contained in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Lai Mohammed, condoled with the Bayelsa State Government and the people of Bayelsa over the death of its former Governor.

It said it received the news of the former Governor’s demise with great shock, considering that he was not publicly reported to have been gravely ill.

APC prayed that the family would find comfort in their moment of sadness, as well as the
strength to bear the loss of their loved one

”May the soul of the departed also rest in perfect peace,” the APC said.

More so, Governor Seriake Dickson, in statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, said Mr. Alamieyeseigha was a strong supporter of his administration.

He said, Alamieyeseigha’s demise was a very painful and monumental loss to the entire Ijaw nation, which he had always defended. He described the ex-governor’s death as a personal loss to him.

He commiserated with the deceased’s wife, Margaret, his immediate family, and the entire people of the state, noting that the Ijaws had lost a “rare gem”.

Mr. Alamieyeseigha died on Saturday evening at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, where he was receiving medical care.
