The Kano State government has applied for N15billion from the Federal Government to fight coronavirus in the state.

The state governor, Umar Ganduje, said this on Wednesday, during Channels Television programme, ‘Politics Today’.

According to the governor, the state is yet to receive any financial support from the Federal Government to fight the COVID-19 disease since the state recorded its first index case of the virus.

He said, “You can understand that Kano is the most populated in the country hence the only testing centre at AKTH is not enough for us.”

However, reacting to the reported mass death of 150 persons in the state within three days, the governor denied the report, saying the figure was false.

He added that investigations by his government at some of the burial sites, showed that only 13 people died in the state.

More so, the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, has announced that the Presidential Task Force for Covid-19 has already commenced investiagtion to ascertain the cause of death in Kano and that the task force was waiting for the arrival of its epidemiologists.
