Following invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) extended to the immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Mr Peter Ayodele Fayose, asking him to report to its Abuja Office as soon as his tenure expires, to defend himself over allegation bordering on money laundering and corruption charges.

The former governor arrived the anti-graft agency’s office at Formella Street, Wuse 2, Abuja, at 12:59pm accompanied by Rivers State governor, Nyesome Wike, former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, his team of lawyers led by human rights activist, Dr Mike Ozekhome and some officials of his administration in Ekiti State.

However, Fayose’s arrival and dressing got his supporters screaming his alias ‘Oshoko’. He wore a Blue T-shirt with the inscription, “EFCC I’M HERE”, boldly written on it and also had a shuttle bag strap to his back, with another side bag.

Speaking shortly after his arrival, Fayose stated that he was at the commission’s office to fulfill his earlier promise that he would honour their invitation after he steps down as governor.

He, however, added that his residence was cordoned off by security operatives, adding that Nigerians should learn to give others the benefit of the doubt.

It would be recalled that the People Democratic Party, PDP, raised an alarm yestersay, saying President, Muhammadu Buhari, has ordered the EFCC to detain Fayose indefinitely.
