Ex-Nigeria International Emmanuel Amunike qualifies Tanzania for AFCON after 39 years

The Taifa Stars of Tanzania has qualified for its first Africa Cup of Nations since 1980.

All thanks to the coaching abilities of former Nigeria international, Emmanuel Amunike.

Amunike who was appointed head coach of the Tanzania national team in August 2018, was tasked with the responsibility of ensuring team qualifies for the 2019 AFCON.

However, he achieved this feat yesterday, following a 3-0 win over Uganda on the final matchday inside a packed National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Tanzania it will be recalled failed to get through the first round of the competition, the last time they qualified for it in 1980, however, they have another chance.

The 32nd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations will be hosted by Egypt in June, this year. This will be the first time the event will have be held in the middle of the year.

Twenty four teams are expectef to participate in the tournament.
