Nigerian socialite, Paschal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on charges bordering on money laundering and tax fraud.

He was arrested at the Lagos airport on Thursday, an official familiar with the incident told Peoples Gazette.

His arrest comes weeks after fellow socialite Obi Cubana was arrested by the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), over an alleged involvement with drug cartels in South America and Ethiopia. He has since been released.

Meanwhile, no one knows when Cubana Chief Priest will be released on bail, as only his wife is permitted to see him at the moment.

Also, EFCC officials prevented his arrest from going public amidst pressure from his associates and family, who said the matter could complicate conditions for others likely connected to the alleged racket.
