Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Godwin Obaseki has defeated his rival, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his Local Government Area.
Ize-Iyamu, who voted in Orhionwon LGA, won his polling unit but failed to clinch the council area.
He polled 10,458 votes in the whole local government, while Obaseki got 13,445 votes, according to the result announced by INEC Sunday afternoon
Obaseki is currently leading in the election after results from 17 of 18 LGAs were released.
However, the results from the last LGA is yet to be released by INEC.
