The Lagos state police command has detained popular Nigerian artiste, Azeez Fashola otherwise known as Naira Marley, for holding a concert in Abuja despite the ban on gatherings and inter-state travel in line with the COVID-19 protocols.

The controversial artiste left Lagos for the Federal Capital Territory for a concert which was held on Saturday, July 13 at the Jabi Lake Mall.

Spokesperson for the police in Lagos, Bala Elkana, confirmed that Naira Marley was arraigned in court for the offence.

This is not the first time Naira Marley, would be arrested for breaking COVID-19 lockdown rules, as he was also arraigned some time ago for showing up at a party organised by Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, in honour of her husband, Abdulrasheed Bello.

While he was forgiven by the state government for former, he was “awarded a fine of one hundred thousand naira each by the presiding Magistrate,” after he pleaded guilty for breaking the lockdown rule.
