Boko Haram has killed about 30 people after it attacked commuters yesterday in Auna.

The travelers were denied access into the town of maiduguri because they arrived Auna around 6:05pm, which is against the 6pm closing time.

However, the commuters were said to have decided to pass the night at the checkpoint which is the norm, when Boko Haram attacked them around 9:45pm.

The operation was said to have lasted till 1:00am.

Morethan 30 people lost their lives with cars burnt, while many others were kidnapped including children.

The Nigeria Airforce Base was said to be within 5km from the location of the incident, same Maiduguri town, but rescue failed to come.

Meanwhile, Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, while visiting the acene of the attack on Monday blamed the military for the Sunday night attack by the insurgents, saying, “I am being pushed to the wall to say the truth.”

“Since my inauguration as the governor of Borno State from May 29th to date, Auno town has been attacked for about six times now. And the reason is that the military has withdrawn from Auno town.

“We have made repeated plea to the military to re-establish a base in Auno since it is one of the flashpoints of the Boko Haram, but nothing has been done to that effect.”
