Boko Haram attacks Borno governor’s convoy in Baga

Members of the Boko Haram sect on Wednesday opened fire on the convoy of Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno State.

Security sources who confirmed the incident, said the governor’s convoy was attacked at Baga town, a fishing community, ubder Kaka Local Government.

The governor was who had earlier visited Monguno to distribute food to the internally displaced persons there, stopped at Baga for same, but was attacked while he was returning back to Maiduguri.

It however took efforts from security operatives attached to him to repel the insurgents.

It will be recalled that Ali Modu Sheriff, a former governor of the state, was also attacked by the sect three months ago along Maiduguri-Damaturu Highway.

An attack which saw nothing less than five persons including three policemen killed in the incident.
