AUN, NUC and Digital Promise Global to Host Abuja Technology Assisted Learning Conference

The Technology Assisted Learning Conference which started yesterday 31, September is being hosted by the American University of Nigeria (AUN) that champions e-learning in the country and National Universities Commission and Digital Promise.

The Conference which is taking place in Barcelona Hotels located at Blantyre Street, Abuja is scheduled to end by 1st September 2015.

The general theme of the conference is Technology Assisted Learning in the Nigerian University System. It is being sponsored by big players in the country’s ICT industry, namely, Airtel, Microsoft, Computer Warehouse Group, MTN, EDU Platforms, IBM, Sunnet Systems & Datacom Services Ltd.

Major stakeholders in the universities of Nigeria are expected to be available in the conference. It also highlights the importance of collaboration teamwork.

The Executive Secretary of NUC, Julius Okojie has said during his welcome address to the participants that the conference would provide a platform for discussing new ideas and opportunities. According to him, the forum also has the potential of transforming the effective teaching, research and learning.

He mentioned that the aim of the organizers of the conference was to better and to ensure more teaching, research and learning through ICT.

Mr. Okojie highlighted the need to change the methods utilized by the universities to methods that are more applicable to the realities of the globalized world such as ours. AUN according to him has taken up this task since the time it was established 11 years ago.

Things that the participants will learn or be exposed to include the current state of the art of Information technology, education, the challenges and obstacles to the deployment of ICT and strategies for successful ICT deployment.
